green lane museum summer opening
Green Lane Museum has a brand new look for 2012, with a fresh display of old favourites and recently acquired items for visitors to explore.
Located within Roe Valley Country Park, Green Lane Museum gives visitors the opportunity to see historical exhibits relating to local trades, agriculture and linen production and to experience the true flavour of days gone by in Limavady.
Central to the redisplay is the Limavady and District War Memorial which formerly resided in the Alexander Memorial Hall. The memorial, consisting of a series of boards, lists the names of those who fought and died in the First World War. Recently donated items such as a W. & T. Avery weighing machine and a sharpening wheel from O’Brien’s fleshers shop on Main Street will also be on display.
The museum is open 6 days a week (Saturday – Thursday) from 1 May to 31 August, 1pm – 4.45pm. Temporary exhibitions and craft demonstrations take place at selected times throughout the season. For further information about the museum, please contact the Limavady Tourist Information Centre on Tel: 028 7776 0650 or visit www.facebook.com/greenlanemuseum.
