the cove
A new dance theatre piece inspired by the landscape that surrounds us, about scaling soaring crags with the sea below, feeling the rocks with fingertips, smelling and tasting the air. The effort…the challenge…the pleasure….the fear and mortality. In this unique performance theatre event, audiences will be seated in the round and drawn into the dancers’ memories of the natural, wild environment. In light of current environmental issues, this production could not be more pertinent and will appeal to theatre goers, patrons interested in contemporary performance and dance, as well as those with an interest and enthusiasm in the great outdoors.
Choreographed by Echo Echo Artistic Director Steve Batts with stage design by acclaimed Belfast based artist and climber Dan Shipsides, six dancers will perform their embodied memories of climbing and landscape to a commissioned music score by Christopher Norby. This project is funded by the Connections Challenge Fund, part of Legacy Trust UK and managed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
Tickets: £5 with discount available for groups of 8 or more.
