triple song writing delight from bap kennedy, anthony toner and ben glover

The Danny Boy Festival welcomes a unique triple bill of song writing talent, as three of Northern Ireland’s finest song writing talents unite for a special ‘In the Round’ show in our intimate auditorium.

Bap Kennedy, Anthony Toner and Ben Glover will perform an intimate acoustic-based show ‘In the Round’ sharing songs, harmonies and stories from the road. Expect some great banter, top-drawer material and fine playing. Bap Kennedy has been picking up incredible airplay and acclaim with his brand new album, The Sailor’s Revenge, produced by former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler. The new material adds depth and strength to a back catalogue that already includes some amazing material including Moonlight Kiss, Lover Man and many more. Born in Coleraine but now based in Belfast, Anthony Toner has attracted strong crowds on previous appearances in Bangor. Also an accomplished guitarist, he has attracted strong airplay and response with his most recent album, A Light Below the Door. The album follows a string of radio successes, his composition ‘Sailortown’ has become one of Northern Ireland radio’s most requested songs. Acclaimed songwriter Ben Glover has in the past been compared to Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and David Gray. Ben has already produced three albums in collaboration with the likes of Vince Gill, Buddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale and Mary Gauthier. While he lived most of his life in Belfast, Glover recently relocated to Nashville where he has found the sort of collaboration he couldn’t find anywhere else. His latest release, Before The Birds (2011), produced by Neilson Hubbard, has further established his growing international reputation.
