shine a light (12A)

This stunning labour of love documentary from legendary director Martin Scorsese is guaranteed to get you in the mood for the weekend music extravaganza that is the Limavady Jazz & Blues Festival! Scorcese filmed the Rolling Stones over a two-day period at the intimate Beacon Theater in New York City in fall 2006. The superb cinematography captures the raw energy of the legendary band as they embark on their “A Bigger Bang” tour.

The genius of Scorsese’s film is that it reveals the Stones’ mortality while celebrating all that makes them more than mere mortals.– Elyssa Gardner, USA Today
