WWII Exhibition
2 September - 30 September

photographs from the second world war

This exhibition provides a unique insight into the role that both people and animals played during the Second World War using images from the Imperial War Museum Collections. Life in the RAF and Royal Navy is reflected via photographs of squadrons both at work and during their leisure time. Photographs of animals, meanwhile, underline the intriguing and often surprising stories of their involvement in the war; from carrier pigeons tracing missing RAF airmen to dogs locating buried mines. Women’s contributions to the war effort are also highlighted; with photographs of the Women’s Land Army, the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force and the Women’s Royal Naval Service in action.

Produced in conjunction with the Causeway Museum Service. Limavady Borough Council is a partner in Causeway Museum Service.

Tours of the exhibition are available to schools and community groups by prior arrangement with the Museum/Heritage Officer. Please contact us on Tel: 028 7776 0650 for further details.
