father of the bride

As a tribute to the late Elizabeth Taylor, we show the original Father of the Bride. Many will be more familiar with the 1991 Steve Martin remake which tells the story of the father of a young woman who has to deal with the emotional pain of her getting married, and the financial and organizational pain of arranging her wedding. Although the 1950s vision of family life now seems incredibly dated, the heart of the film still rings true and Spencer Tracy’s perfect comic timing and strength of character is said to have served as a model for Robert De Niro in Meet the Parents.
A thoroughly enchanting comedy about the trials and tribulations a middle aged family man faces when the daughter he dotes on decides to get married - Time Out
Admisson: £4 to non-members, free to members
