damien o’kane

Damien was due to perform with us in late April, however the imminent arrival of his and partner Kate’s baby daughter, Phoebe Summer Rusby O’Kane, dictated otherwise! We are delighted to offer patrons another opportunity to catch this superb artist, now regarded as one of the finest folk musicians on the scene today. Originally from Coleraine and with an acclaimed reputation as a creative and exciting musician, Damien is now as renowned for his superb singing as much as for his virtuoso banjo playing. A full-time member of his partner Kate Rusby’s band, Damien recently completed touring with Kate and is also well known for his work with Shona Kipling and Flook. He released his debut solo album Summer Hill in May 2012 and since then, has recently produced the award-winning Mystery Inch with David Kosky, launched at the Cambridge Folk Festival 2011.

Having spent a year with Anglo-Irish super group Flook, his banjo playing took him to many more different venues. Now with a solo career ahead and his work with Kate Rusby, he is sure to continue his success and further his reputation as a superb singer and instrumentalist….A gorgeous record. The Sunday Express
