The Eddie Butcher Music & Singing Festival 2012 takes place from 3-9 September at locations right across the borough.

Established by The Shamrock Rose and Thistle Tradition, a non-profit local community group, to promote traditional singing and music from all traditions. The 2012 Festival sees a range of great activities including:

  • Opening Night Session in Brown’s Bar, Drumsurn on Monday 3 September, 8.30pm. Admission Free
  • A Talk & Singing of Songs of Our Land by Len Graham and John Moulden on Tuesday 4 September, 7.30pm at the Benedy Hall in Dungiven. Admission is £5, pay at the door
  • The Downhill Hostel Session on Wednesday 5 September, 7.30pm. Admission Free
  • Tinney’s Session on Thursday 6 September, 9pm to late, at Tinney’s Bar, Patrick Street, Derry. Admission Free
  • The Harvest Concert Home Crown on Friday 7 September, 7.30pm in our Danny Boy Auditorium. Compere of the night is Cathal McCann and performances include Dungiven Comhaltus, Gerald McCloskey, Bobby Forest, Tommy Dunne, Seamus O’Kane and others, as well as a performance ’1718 The Five Ships, Migration to the New World’ by Limavady High School. Admission is £10 full/£8 concession.
  • The Ceili House on Saturday 8 September, 2-4pm at Green Lane Museum, Roe Valley Country Park. Music, song and stories with guest Liz Weir. Admission Free
  • The Eddie Butcher Session on Saturday 8 September, 8pm at Cooley’s Bar, Magilligan. A night to remember of songs, stories and great craic in front of a roaring fire. Admission Free with light supper
  • The Kelly’s Session on Sunday 9 September, 3pm at Dungiven GAA Club. The Festival draws to a close in a wonderful event showcasing the traditional musical talent of the Kelly Family from Dungiven. Admission Free
