RAF and History of Aviation Bus Tour
Inspired by the major television series on World War II, Limavady Tourist Information has put together an RAF and History of Aviation in Limavady bus tour highlighting the pivotal role that Limavady played during the Second World War. Join the tour lead by Norman Thorpe on Friday 12 October to discover incredible stories including how Limavady people shaped the outcome of the War. The tour visits some of Limavady’s wartime sites central to the defence of the UK and Europe including the emergency hospital at the former Roe Valley Hospital, a crash site and wartime bunker.
Norman who is a member of Shackleton Aviation provides a fascinating insight into the main sites and locations associated with the history of RAF and aviation in the Limavady Borough. Norman said “it is extraordinary that so many sites remain intact and I believe that it is important to tell people about Limavady’s rich aviation and wartime history”. If you have a love of aviation, enjoy history or simply want to find out more about Limavady’s role during World War II contact the Visitor Services Team at the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre to reserve your place on 028 777 60650. Alternatively you can email tourism@rvacc.co.uk. The tour costs £5 per adult / £3 concession. Please be advised that spaces are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment. Please bring a packed lunch, sensible walking wear and footwear. The tour departs the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre on Friday 12 October at 9.30am and will return again at 4pm.
