come to the cove…
Calling all lovers of the theatre, the landscape and outdoor pursuits! ‘The Cove’ – an exciting new production which explores the landscape which surrounds us visits us on Friday 5 October, 8pm.
Created by Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company, the production combines contemporary dance and theatre to capture our experience of the environment – about how we feel scaling soaring crags with the sea below, feeling the rocks with our fingertips, smelling and tasting the air. The effort, the challenge, the pleasure and the fear and mortality we often face when encountering the physical landscape.
Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company is one of Ireland’s leading dance companies, known for its innovative projects and unique performance style, and The Cove is no different! In this unique event, audiences will be seated ‘in the round’, with the performance taking place in the centre of the Danny Boy Auditorium. The production innovatively merges visual arts, dance and theatre, combining the stunning choreography by Echo Echo Artistic Director Steve Batts with stage design by acclaimed Belfast based visual artist and climber Dan Shipsides, with a riveting commissioned music score by Christopher Norby. Workshops with local secondary schools are also taking place across the borough – contact Desima on 02877760656 for more details.
Tickets cost £5 with group discount available from the Arts Centre’s Box office on Tel: 028 7776 0650 or visit www.roevalleyarts.com for further information.
