danny boy festival 23 June to 7 July 2012

After our successful launch last night, the Festival proper kicks off on Sunday 24 June at 7pm with Curtis Blackwell and the Dixie Boys    The Award – Winning Curtis Blackwell Band is well known, well-travelled, and one of the talented groups to rise out of the Appalachia! - The Foxfire Book. Other highlights include Songwriters in the Round featuring Bap Kennedy, Anthony Toner & Ben Glover on Wednesday 27 June at 8pm followed by a wonderful free event for all festival goers -Wookalily on Saturday 30 June at 8pm , cabaret style and bring your own refreshments! An evening with Frances Black sponsored by Danny Boy Premium Irish Whiskey rounds off the Festival on Friday 6 July at 8pm.   Along with the musical delights we have instore Danny Boy gets crafty for kids with Junior Glass Painting 2 July 11am- 1pm and Creating Clay Sea Creatures July 5 2-4pm.  We have Willow Weaving Wonders for adults 23 June 10.30-1.30pm.  For those interested in Culture and Heritage we welcome Dr Martin Dowling of Queens University who will give an insightful talk on Danny Boys long-held popularity and its influence on the world of music.  Street Theatre comes to Drumceatt Square on 28 June 1pm & 2.30pm with That Man.
