Here you will find information on our core staff, however we also have valued support from casual staff on an ongoing basis. Local student placements and volunteers are welcomed to the RVACC team and we celebrate their contribution via our blog.

    edel murphy

    Arts & Cultural Facilities Officer

    Joining the team in September 2017, Edel has overall responsibility for the operational management of the venue including staff, programming the live events, exhibitions and creative learning, marketing and publicity, audience development and community programmes. Edel is a graduate of Queen’s University and Ulster University holding qualifications spanning a BA English and Psychology, a PGCE in English and Drama, Irish Language Diploma and an Associate Diploma from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama. Having spent 10 years working as an Arts Officer in the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, she has more recently been working as Education Officer in The Playhouse, Company Development Manager with Sole Purpose Productions and General Manager with Kabosh. Originally from Donegal, her understanding of how the arts can empower and enrich individuals and our communities, was developed through her involvement in amateur dramatics, teaching experience, féiseanna and a family ethos of the value of creativity.

    One of our Visitor Services team, Diane provides tourist information and related services, helps with administration and operates our Box Office. Diane is passionate about travel and before working as a Visitor Information Officer Diane worked for City of Derry Airport. Diane enjoys walking her dog, Chase and spending time with her grandson.

    Maureen is one of our valued Housekeeping team, ensuring our lovely venue remains spic and span and providing superb hospitality to our visiting clients and artists. She also acts as front of house staff for our wide range of arts and communtiy events.

    Administration Support Officer (Job Share)

    As Administration Support Officer, Sharon assists the Arts & Cultural Services Manager and the other Officers with the centre's administration and marketing requirements. In addition she handels external bookings and their catering needs. Sharon shares her duties with Zoe Bratton.

    Desima Connolly

    Cultural Facilities Development Manager

    Desima manages the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart and community arts for the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough. She has responsibility for the strategic development of the Arts Centres, overseeing programming, marketing and publicity, audience development and operational management, as well as developing the community arts service via both venues and throughout the area. Desima has a BA(Hons) in Fine Arts and postgraduate qualifications in both Fine Arts (MFA) and Cultural Heritage & Museum Studies. Before joining the former Limavady Borough Council in July 2010, Desima had worked in various cultural roles for over fourteen years, including positions within other local government arts/museums departments, arts organisations and voluntary community groups, developing a strong passion for community arts practice.     Shauna McNeilly

    Community Arts Engagement Officer

    Shauna will be developing activities programmes within both Roe Valley Arts Centre and Flowerfield Arts Centre to encourage community engagement, whilst also developing and delivering community arts outreach projects across the new borough. From 2014 to 2016 she was European Engagement Officer based at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, where she established and managed both the Creative Europe Culture and MEDIA Desks for Northern Ireland. Having completed her Theatre Studies degree at University of Ulster in 1997, Shauna began her arts career in Dublin with roles at The Gate Theatre, The Olympia Theatre and the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She went on to work at Derry’s Nerve Centre, Foyle Film Festival, Glasgowbury Music Festival, Channel4TalentNI, Strule Arts Centre, Millennium Forum, and in freelance roles, delivering roles in marketing, funding, arts education, audience development, producing, event management and programming. She has extensive project management experience and has produced events with international artists as one of the Cultural Programmers for the inaugural UK City of Culture 2013. She is passionate about developing ideas into projects and skill-sharing through multi-partner working. Although Shauna is based at Flowerfield Arts Centre, she will be working with our own internal team and groups in the limavady area to nurture community arts practice and cultural engagement.

    Billy Coyles

    Duty Officer

    Billy oversees the maintenance and security of the Centre and makes sure everything runs smoothly. He also supervises all our corporate and community hire bookings, ensuring our visitors are happy with our service and provides technical support for our many exhibitions.     Daryl Harkin

    Technician (p/t)

    Daryl manages all the technical equipment in the Centre including sound and lighting requirements for theatre and music events and helps stage our exhibitions. Daryl is supported by casual technicians Alan McCracken and Simon Nugent and also has some Duty Officer responsibilities. He has a BSc in Music Technology and is also a practising musician, singer and songwriter. Before joining our team, Daryl worked for Belfast City Council.
