DESCRIBE YOUR AVERAGE WORKING DAY
I’m the main contact for private hire of facilities in the centre and ensure the centre runs smoothly on a daily basis.
I also take care of the security and maintenance of the building and its general upkeep and manage the housekeepers to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained at all times. Daily tasks such as room set-ups obviously change so much according to what’s on. I’m also responsible for setting up and dismantling the exhibitions in our three galleries which always takes a good bit of work each time.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I really enjoy maximising venue use and meeting so many different community groups and organisations. I love the diversity of my role and it’s especially pleasing when I can enhance their experience of the Centre.
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE RVACC?
The RVACC is a new state of the art, community focused venue which offers a huge range of facilities for the residents of the borough and visitors. It’s brilliant that it also includes Drumceatt Square which is effectively the town square.
GIVE IT UP: TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVOURITE CULTURAL ACTS/ARTISTS/ARTY THINGS YOU LIKE TO DO
Live performances, whether it is music, drama, variety or dance is always high up on my agenda for a good night out.
Some of the shows that have been in the RVACC to date have been excellent, particularly the schools performances. The galleries are brilliant spaces to showcase a wide variety of art, crafts and the heritage exhibitions always have some very interesting memorabilia.
