rvacc welcomes ryan!
We were so lucky to have Ryan Elder with us last week, on a work placement from Limavady High School. Ryan spent the majority of the week with me, observing my role and assisting with various tasks. We asked him what he thought of his time here and here’s what he said:
“When I first came to the Arts and Cultural Centre I was delighted that I was allowed to work there. I was also very nervous of what to expect but when I got started I got used to doing tasks like handling, labelling and packing objects and helping the Museum/Heritage Officer to update the object database. All of the staff gave me an insight into their jobs which was good to know. I got to work at the tourist information desk where I carried out research for a myths and legends booklet. It was good to see what sort of people come into the centre and what they ask for. I also went to Green Lane Museum with the Museum/Heritage Officer and I helped her clear out a cabinet so that we could put objects which had recently been donated by a local lady on display. We had been working on it all week and it was good to eventually get the items on display. All round it was a good experience working at the Centre and getting to know all the lovely staff there. If I could come back to the Centre in the future I would, as it’s a brilliant building and run very well.”
Ryan was a great help to all of the staff here at the Centre and we wish him all the very best with his studies.
